What Causes Acne?

Acnes simplist cause is this: Increased oil production clogs facial skin pores and provides an environment for bacteria-caused inflammation.

Many factors have been attributed as causes of this increased oil production. Stress has been linked as a cause in both adolescent and adult acne. According to a 2002 study done by Stanford School of Medicine, students undergoing extreme stress and anxiety around exams exhbited an increase in acne outbreaks and severity. Other studies have confirmed these findings.

How Does Stress Affect Acne?

Stress may be positive, like getting married or arranging an important function, or negative like stress at school. Both positive and negative stresses have the same impact on body chemistry: Cortisol production is increased. Two things happen with increased cortisol production. First, skin oil production increases leading to clogged pores. Second, wound healing can be diminished by as much as 40%, causing acne to linger. Many factors contribute to the frequency and severity of acne outbreaks. Stress is just one component, but an important one, and one that can be managed.

Although stress is regarded as a part of everyday life, managing stress using the Stress Acne Fighter may help alleviate stress-induced acne flare-ups. The Stress Acne Fighter app is NOT a cure or a treatment for acne. It is a stress management program to help manage the effects of stress, which may then help with the severity and frequency of acne outbreaks. The app uses multiple approaches to helping stress management, including color therapy, sound relaxation, photic stimulation and 3D imaging.

Use the Stress Acne Fighter app twice daily for stress reduction purposes. Each session is ten minutes. Stress reduction should be part of an overall acne fighting program
